I call it the “Building Inside the Building Mural”.
The Historic Hotel Josephine is located at 6th & E Streets in Grants Pass, Oregon. The 23 room hotel opened for business way back in November 1893. Apparently it was the first hotel in Grants Pass to offer its guests the convenience of electricity. The mural was painted by Jacksonville, Oregon Artist, John Michener.
There are more murals in Grants Pass. I was just thinking I will have to make a series of Grants Pass Street Art.
Grants Pass is my big city now. It is a quaint town with a whimsical downtown historical district and boasts the “All American City” award from 1986. It is a 40 minute trip to town. I make this jaunt often, more than I like to admit, especially with the price of gas. But a civilized girl has to venture out of the woods from time to time.
